MikeKY_noInsulin While I agree BD are the best, the GGPeps syringes are perfectly adequate. I've used both and the difference is marginal — maybe slightly smoother injection with BD but we're talking a needle that's in your skin for 5 seconds.
For beginners, the GGPeps kit is fine. You can always upgrade to BD later if you want.
One tip nobody mentions: rotate injection sites. Belly, thighs, upper arms. Don't always inject in the same spot or you can develop lipodystrophy (hardened tissue) over time. I use a simple rotation: left belly → right belly → left thigh → right thigh → repeat.

Great thread. A few pharmacy-perspective tips:
BAC water storage: Once opened, BAC water is good for 28 days per USP guidelines. In practice, with proper sterile technique (always swabbing the stopper, never touching the needle to anything), it lasts longer. But officially, 28 days.
Syringe disposal: Please dispose of used syringes properly. Most pharmacies have sharps containers for a few dollars, or you can buy one on Amazon. DO NOT throw needles in regular trash.
Pro tip for accurate dosing: When drawing medication, pull past your desired amount, then push back to the exact line. This removes any air bubbles and ensures precise dosing. Small air bubbles in a SubQ injection are harmless but can affect dose accuracy.

Great additions from everyone. To summarize for beginners:
Minimum supplies needed:
- BAC water (Amazon: $5-6, GGPeps: $8)
- Insulin syringes 1ml/31g (Amazon: $12/100, GGPeps kit: included)
- Alcohol swabs (Amazon: $3/100, GGPeps kit: included)
- Sharps container (Amazon: $5)
Nice to have:
- Mixing syringe 3ml/18g (Amazon: $6/10, GGPeps kit: 1 included)
- Extra needles for drawing (18g or 21g — easier than using insulin syringes to draw from vials)
Total startup cost: About $20-35 for supplies that last months.
Don't let the supply aspect intimidate you. It's simpler than it sounds and after your first reconstitution you'll wonder why you were nervous.
